How long do DTF transfers last?

DTF transfers are made from a durable, plastic material that should last a long time with proper care. There are some things that may factor into the lifespan of your custom DTF transfer:

The type of fabric: While DTF transfers can be applied to most fabrics, different types of fabric will affect the heat transfer's longevity. For example, DTF transfers tend to bond best to natural fibers like cotton, helping to increase their lifespan.

The application: Ensuring DTF transfers are applied correctly is key to a long-lasting print. Ensure you’re using the right combination of heat, pressure, and time. Too much heat can cause the transfers to crack, whereas too little heat prevents proper adhesion. Be sure to check out our instructions on how to apply DTF transfers with an iron and how to apply DTF transfers with a heat press for best practices.

Placement of your design: If your design is placed on an area that may experience a lot of friction or has ridges, such as socks, it may wear out faster than a logo placed on a sleeve or book bag.

Exposure to elements: Prolonged or repeated exposure to sunlight, heat, or rain can cause heat transfers to fade more quickly. DTF transfers used on outdoor sportswear, for example, may not last as long as those used on casual wear.

Washing: Allow your design to set for some time before washing it. Typically 24 hours is a safe amount of time. When you're ready to wash, turn the fabric inside out and use cold water on a delicate cycle. Air drying or using the lowest dryer setting is ideal.

Maintenance: To keep your design from winkling, turn your fabric inside out after washing and iron on a low setting
