Our story

Shortly before Christmas in 2009, a 72-year old Tom Cummings bought his first computer and asked his friend Anthony Constantino for help using it to bet on horse racing. Tom is a skilled thoroughbred handicapper and heard he could get better horse statistics online.

Instead of talking about horse racing, Constantino shared his vision with Tom for bringing manufacturing onto the Internet. Tom asked, "what do people even do on the Internet?" and Constantino responded by showing him a few web sites.

The septuagenarian said "that's interesting," closed his first laptop, went home, and surprised Constantino when he visited his office the following morning with a notepad of plans for the two of them to start an Internet manufacturing company together.

3 months later, Sticker Mule was born.

Neither Tom nor Anthony had plans to sell stickers, all they wanted to do was build a modern manufacturing company that had a close connection with customers to align the success of the business with the performance of the factory floor.

Of course, the two had never done anything on the Internet before so they did what anyone would do when trying to learn how to do something new. They looked up experts, found one that had a phone number and made a phone call.

"We want your help to build an Internet company," the two informed Software CEO, Sean Schofield, who accepted the call and was well respected for being the creator of a prestigious open-source ecommerce platform called Spree. Schofield asked what they wanted to sell, but they hadn't decided on a product yet nor did they have a budget in mind.

The confused Spree CEO tried to end the call but Anthony interjected, "well we have $100,000 to build a site" which provoked an invitation to get started.

Constantino designed his concept for an online ordering process for a manufacturing company but still hadn't decided on a product when he first met his new software development team that accepted the $100,000 project.

"We can get started immediately if you pick a product," Schofield insisted at their meeting.

Constantino went home, talked to his brother Nicholas who also joined to help the project, and the two settled on stickers after combining various iterations of animal plus product.

Print Bear, Button Frog, Magnet Duck, Gorilla Bags, were abandoned options.

The trio grabbed another friend and pitched the idea to a local designer, Dave Traver, to design the web site. Dave responded, "I never designed a web site but always wanted to try." Days later, Dave had the initial design for Sticker Mule which looks much the same as it does today.

Good design is long lasting they say.

Our story

Within 3 months Sticker Mule launched and, to his credit, Spree's CEO, Sean Schofield, only charged $50,000 of the offered $100,000 budget.

Not only that, but Schofield let Constantino hire part of his team to continue growing Sticker Mule and, with that, Sticker Mule was born with a strong innovative foundation rooted in a now fabled open-source platform called Spree.

The company grew quickly, injecting an innovative drive in all aspects of the business from customer service, to manufacturing and software development.

In 2016, Sticker Mule went global, opening in Italy to service Europe in response to a Live Chat conversation that Constantino had with an Italian entrepreneur. Late one night, Constantino stumbled upon a web site called Unixstickers and a live chat popped up.

The man on the other end, Stefano Di Luca, introduced himself as the founder of Unixstickers and asked why Sticker Mule doesn't sell to Europe. Constantino asked, "why do you care?" to which Di Luca replied, "I am Italian and want to buy from you but can't!"

They became friends and Di Luca soon joined Sticker Mule to launch European Operations, setting up a customer service office in Bologna and manufacturing in Pisa, Italy.

Sticker Mule continued to grow by paying close attention to customers and quickly expanded into multiple product lines requested by customers including t-shirts, magnets, labels, buttons, packaging, keychains, yard signs, hats, hoodies and more.

Millions of customers, from all over the globe, flocked to the company which proudly boasts a nearly perfect 5 star rating across more than 360,000 reviews, as Constantino, a fan of transparency, publishes real time corporate statistics for all to view.

Sticker Mule publicly discloses that it has processed more than 16 million orders from 7.8 million customers with 92.79% indicating they would order again.
